Inspired by Barry Manilow's hit song "Copacabana",
this is a story of love and romance set in the world of 1940s
Broadway nightclubs. While creat ing
the world's next big hit, Stephen (played by Robin Crosbie),
an aspiring songwriter, is carried back to an era when "music and
passion were always the fashion" at the famous Copacabana
nightclub in New York City. In his dream Lola Lamar (Jane
Shedden), a hopeful showgirl, is launched on the path to stardom
as a Copa Girl with the help of Tony Starr (also Robin Crosbie),
a bartender with dreams of his own. Captivated by by Lola's
performance, the villainous Rico (Sam Cartwright) whisks her
away to the Tropicana night club
in Havana. From this exotic, distant new world, a tale of
old fashioned love, jealousy and murder in the entangled lives
of Lola, Tony, Rico and Conchita (Christina Riddell) unfolds
amidst dazzling costumes, spectacular sets and sensational
choreography.
There was blood and a single gunshot, but just who shot who?
